The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has been working with key partners in developing projects to improve a destination’s sense of place - the quality of its distinctiveness and authenticity being very important to attracting visitors. The NWDA supports the principles of good building and public space design through a range of activities, working closely with organisations such as the Centre for Construction and Innovation and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). Cumbria Tourism A scoping study was commissioned to review public realm action and responsibilites for the visitor economy at a local level in Cumbria. A workshop organised by Cumbria Tourism considered and recommended ways in which Local Authorities and the other partners could measure their exsiting and changing public realm involvment.
