From the world-famous Lake District to the breathtaking shoreline of the Sefton Coast, from the vast Forest of Bowland to the small network of picturebook villages, England’s Northwest has a range of valuable natural assets. Following on from the production of Marketing the Natural Environment in 2006, the Northwest has developed a project to lever a greater economic gain from the region’s outstanding natural environment through closer alignment between economic and environmental priorities, using tourism as a driver. This project works with a number of key partners across the region and is funding a number of demonstration projects. Greater co-operation has enabled a number of projects to be realised including www.merseycoastandcountry.com linking the urban, coastal and rural products of Merseyside.
