Visitor Information

The objective is simple - to deliver excellence across the England’s Northwest visitor experience.   We want to encourage improvement in the information provided to visitors and that means that this information should provide inspiration, be reliable and in a format that the visitor wants.

In 2006, the NWDA and the Tourist Boards worked together to provide a Visitor Information Framework (VIF) which stemmed from the Strategy for Tourism in England’s Northwest. The VIF is a key document which sets out how Tourist Boards, Local Authorities, the NWDA and others, including the private sector, can work together to create a seamless wealth of information for our visitors, delivered when, where and how they need it, in such a way as to maximise tourism’s benefits to the region. This provision may be through the web, kiosks, or face-to-face through the network of Tourist Information Centres and Blue Badge guides.

The ways in which people are acquiring information and using technology for planning is changing rapidly; the aim of England’s Northwest is to respond quickly and appropriately to these changes.
